CAP extends congratulations to its Immediate Past President


Dear Caribbean Pharmacists & Friends of CAP:

On Monday 31st August, 2009 Mrs. Ellen Campbell-Grizzle was awarded the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree by the Caribbean Institute of Media and Communication at the University of the West Indies, Mona.

Recently, the University of Technology appointed Dr. Campbell-Grizzle an Adjunct Associate Professor of Pharmacy. From this position, she is to head up the new Caribbean Institute of Pharmacy Policy Practice and Research (CIPPPAR) and initiate the Utech Pharmacy Alumni.

CIPPPAR is established to:
Stimulate pharmacy based policy, research and practice leading to the synthesis of knowledge, evidence and the development of appropriate tools and methods
Develop the capacity of pharmacists to undertake research and disseminate knowledge to policy makers and other stakeholders
Promote the application of evidence-based pharmaceutical sciences that will foster best practices in the provision of pharmaceutical services and care.
Provide short courses, preferably internet based or mixed mode, for healthcare providers
Establish and promote interdisciplinary information sharing and inter-sectoral links between pharmacists and consumers
Provide a range of services to the pharmaceutical industry that will support the safe use of medicines

CIPPPAR plans to offer short internet based developmental courses that will benefit all pharmacists.

Mr. Bassil Scantlebury has extended Dr. Campbell-Grizzle congratulations from the Caribbean Association of Pharmacists.
